Since its inception, The Wiley Center for Speech and Language Development, established in 1982, has awarded in excess of $500,000 to provide need based financial assistance to families of children with autism and other special needs, grandparent caregivers raising grandchildren in the absence of their parents (1995-2015), and general program support to provide unique and innovative services and experience for the children and young adults we serve.
An example, our most recent training program, is Spectrum Shield Safety with Law Enforcement which is a 3 day, 2 night intensive training provided free of charge to young adults with autism to ensure their safety as they prepare for independence in their communities.

Support Drama Kings and Queens
Drama Kings and Queens is a 6 wk summer theatre program for students 5-15 yrs of age with autism and other social cognitive deficits. Our intensive training program focuses on social /emotional and verbal and nonverbal communication skills while unlocking the unique artistic abilities of our students who literally come from around the world. Our Drama Kings and Queens are exposed to voice and dictation training, dancing and singing while being taught by world renowned experts and artists on a daily basis.
Students also engage in fun and unique weekly experiences which include private tours, meet and greets on various movie and TV sets, and attendance to exclusive dance and theatrical performances.
Our program culminates in a professional musical performance held in major theatrical venues. Our show attracts crowds of 300 plus. We encourage you to get involved in the following ways:
- Provide a full or partial scholarship for a student in need.
- Sponsor special experiences for our students (i.e transportation, admission)
- Purchase an ad in our souvenir journal
- Sponsor our theatrical finale

“Beyond the Label Cookiepreneurs” is staffed by our young adults with autism who have trained in our on-site professional kitchen and enjoy baking! Our “Cookiepreneurs” are ready to bake your cookies and fill your personal orders as well as cater your events. We ship nationwide. 100% of the net proceeds are divided equally among our cookiepreenurs. For them, meaningful employment is making delicious cookies!

Support The UPS Store Workforce Training Lab
LET US ASSIST
The UPS Store Workforce Development Learning Lab was established by the UPS Foundation and is the first program of its kind nationwide located in a speech pathology clinic. Our one-of- a-kind UPS training lab offers real-world job training for young adults with autism. Your support enables our UPS Store interns to gain the valuable work experience and training as well as good old fashion customer service needed for the workforce. Allow us to be your local small business or personal resource center. The following services are provided free of charge; tips are always welcome!

This evening recognizes the children that we serve as well as other selfless individuals and entities whose support makes a difference in their lives. Through our fundraising efforts and corporate partnerships we have been able to impact the lives of many. We know that when we strengthen a child, we strengthen a family and ultimately we strengthen our communities. Get involved and join us as we take our students “Beyond the Label.”

Support Beyond the Label Ranch
The “Beyond The Label” (BTL) Ranch is a beautiful 5 acre ranch located in Agua Dulce, Ca. Our students enjoy the opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. BTL ranch represents the first time for many students.
For many, it is their 1st trip to the countryside. For others such as our young adults, who participate in our weekend Spectrum Shield Safety with Law Enforcement training, (include hyperlink) it is their 1st time sleeping away from mom and dad. For others, it’s their 1st time swimming or playing outdoor sports. Many students with autism and other special needs have daily after school programs. Additionally, many find it difficult to keep up with the fast pace of most outdoor activities. We are always proactive and looking for solutions to life’s simple challenges.
We encourage you to partner with us as we build a spacious 4200 sq. ft. Sports & Leisure Park.
Our park will include:
- A one-mile walking path with water fountains
- Innovative urban outdoor park benches and seating
- Obstacle courses and a 50 x 84 ft. regulation size Sports Court =
Our park will enable our children and young adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities an opportunity to exercise, play, and socialize with their peers in a safe setting that’s designed with them in mind.
